About Me

As an English Language Instructor at Istanbul Gelisim University, my role involves crafting an interactive learning environment to enhance students' English proficiency. I have a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching from Medipol University, where I graduated with high honors as the third highest ranked student in 2022.

I am also a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certified professional, having completed a course from Arizona State University in 2022. Additionally, I have participated in several online courses and programs to enhance my pedagogical and linguistic competencies, such as the OPEN (Online Professional English Network) program supported by the U.S. Embassy Ankara. I have also presented and published my research on topics related to EFL teaching and learning at a conference and journal.

In addition to teaching EFL, I am experienced in creating learning/e-learning materials including educational videos, H5P, machinima, comic&storyboard, infographic, talking characters, AR (Augmented Reality), and motivated to learn more!

My goal is to continuously improve myself as an educator and a learner, and to pursue my passion for teaching and learning languages. I am eager to explore new opportunities and challenges in the field of education and beyond.

  • Applied and got accepted to the KUSRP (Koc University Summer Research Program) and worked as a research assistant at Language and Communication Development Lab.

  • Searched and organized literature review on social robots and summarized specific data. Listed references in APA style and arranged documents on Google Docs.

  • Prepared research proposal regarding personalized questions in L2 vocabulary learning with social robots and presented it at the final meeting of the program.

  • Selected for the OPEN (Online Professional English Network Program) Global Online Course scholarship among junior and senior year ELT students in Turkey by U.S. Embassy Ankara & OPEN Course Mentor Committee and completed this 8-week course with other 24 applicants in the spring 2021 term.

Co-Founder and Facilitator of an Online Speaking Club for Adults (2021 - 2022)

  • Established a speaking club with three other colleagues with the aim of helping EFL learners to meet new people and practice their speaking skills in virtual safe & relaxed environment.

  • Planned authentic and learner-centered topics and facilitated weekly-based speaking club.

 

Educational Machinima "Life or Death" (2019-2020 Fall Semester)

  • Led the group members and created an educational machinima video about vaccination/vaccination awareness for the Drama in English Language Teaching class. The aim of this machinima was to make students think critically, discuss and brainstorm about this topic.
