The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by FHI 360. The OPEN Community of Practice (CoP) is an active online forum designed to create connections, facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing and promote mutual cultural understanding between OPEN course alumni and U.S-based TESOL experts.
The Community Leads program is a six month commitment to serve as a digital leader in a particular aspect of the CoP’s various areas of engagement. Community Leads help to drive the CoP through their consistent, valuable contributions to the online platform. Each CL have the opportunity to engage in specific roles that bring high levels of energy and engagement to the broader community.
Büşra selected to serve as a "Community Lead - Content Creator" -as part of cohort 1- (Jan 2022 - Jun 2022) on this forum by the OPEN team and completed a digital leadership training offered by the OPEN program. Her role is to create new TESOL related discussion forum posts that engage OPEN alumni in conversation that leads to professional and cultural exchange, sustain engagement through asking discussion questions and respond to comments from other alumni. Additionally, this role gives her the opportunity to develop her professional leadership skills by:
improving her digital literacy skills as she create interesting discussion posts and resources
cascading TESOL knowledge amongst a global network of OPEN teachers
creating meaningful professional relationships with TESOL professionals in the US and around the world.
Also, selected to serve as a “Community Lead - Resource Guru” -as part of cohort 3- (Jan 2023 - Jun 2023) on this forum by OPEN team and completed digital leadership training offered by the OPEN program.
The role includes adding beneficial TESOL resources, including original resources, to CoP and creating Discussion Forum posts that help other OPEN alumni better understand what the resource is and how it can be used in their classroom.
So, served 12 months in total.
