Post-Reading Activity for “The Merchant of Venice”: Social Media Sheet

Activity Name: Social Media

The teacher will hand out Facebook page worksheets to students. Students will choose one of the characters from The Merchant of Venice and create animaginary Facebook page that includes posts, intro sections, and photos in pairs. They need to consider the character’s personality but they can transform him/her to a person that lives in 2021.

Aim(s) / Rationale: Firstly, this activity aims to recall the characters and their traits. Students need to know these traits in order to create a personalized Facebook page. Next, this will influence their creativity as they need to write imaginary posts that related to the character and transform him/her as if he/she lives in 2021.

Possible drawbacks of the activity: Students might struggle if they do not know about characters’ traits. Also, they might get bored while trying to create imaginary posts.
