Objectives

In this lesson, students will be able to

  • Describe and talk about the weather conditions

  • Become more aware of places around the world by looking at real-world examples

Warm-up

  1. Ask about the real weather condition by looking outside of the window. Then, tell students to describe this weather condition.

  1. Ask students about their favorite weather conditions and why. Also, share your own favorite weather condition.

(Aim(s) / Rationale: Students will focus and think about the target topic, activate pre-existing knowledge,  and become ready for the next activity.

By answering to personalized questions, students will be able to connect their personal interests to the lesson and produce output in L2.)

Open the “RandomStreetView” website and show random photos. Ask about the weather condition in those photos as “What's the weather like in this photo/place?”. Students can choose the country by selecting from the list or its world map, as well.

(Aim(s) / Rationale: With this technology-integrated authentic source/activity, students can practice describing weather conditions in an interesting way. As the website shows random 360° pictures of places around the world, students’ world awareness can increase throughout the lesson, as well.)
