Student profile: Beginner level of English language proficiency


Skills to be emphasized: Listening and Speaking


Language: What do you do when you get up in the morning? Do you follow any routine like having breakfast first or making your bed?


New vocabulary: Yawn, breakfast, shower, etc.

Review vocabulary: get, sleep, o’clock, etc.


Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to

  • Identify daily activities

  • Talk about their daily routine



Present Text

  • Listen and Show (Perform Actions)

“Please listen (CD1-Track 13) and show what you understand with your body without talking, okay?” Ss will perform physical movements -facial expression and body- according to the listening file during listening (Total Physical Response).


  • Listen and Write (Dictation)

“Now, I will read aloud the listening script. Please try to write down what you hear on your notebooks” Ss will try to listen and write down what they hear. Slow down or read again when students struggle to keep up.


Comprehension Check

  • Q & A (Listen and Respond)

Point out the pictures and ask:

T: “What is he doing?”

Ss: Play in the park!

T: “Is she having a breakfast?”

Ss: “Yes...she is!
