I used the tapescript of the listening activity below and prepared an activity using the tapescript to teach listening for details.

My Activity:

- Listen to Fill

Share the tapescript of the listening “Dealing with problems” on the board. Print and hand out the tapescripts to increase accessibility, as well.

  • Pre-listening: Students will read the tapescripts and discuss the potential answers to the gaps in pairs. Share the Padlet board link prepared for this activity. They are expected to share their thoughts/answers as a comment on Padlet -via smartphone, computer, etc.- while discussing. Everyone in the class will be able to see and read their peer’s anonymous comments.

  • While-listening: Play the listening file. Students will check their shared comments on Padlet while listening to the file. Next, play the listening file again and let students fill in the gaps in the printed texts.

  • Post-listening: Students will compare and check their answers in groups. Next, they will open the Padlet board page again and discuss & post new potential answers to the gaps in pairs. After everyone completes posting their comments, lead a whole-class discussion through answers.
